Introduction

This book summarizes the results of the joint European ERASMUS + project “Smart City: An Innovative Approach to the Master's Program in Smart City Technologies”. The project brought together partners from Bulgaria, Romania, Germany, Latvia, Greece, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia. During the project, 3 joint Master's programs in smart city technologies and the Internet of Things were developed between universities from Russia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia and EU universities. Examples of developed curricula are given in the appendices. Thanks to the project, scientific and educational links between all the universities participating in the project were also significantly activated, which made it possible to develop other areas of cooperation. Despite the fact that the project was carried out during the COVID-19 quarantine measures, all participants were able to rebuild the format of interaction to a remote one, and to complete all the project activities in a time.

It should be especially noted that thanks to the financial support of the ERASMUS + project, it became possible to create at the Saratov State Technical University named after Y.A. Gagarin, Novosibirsk State Technical University, Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, National University named after L.N. Gumilyov, the National University of Mongolia, the National University of Engineering and Technology of Mongolia, a modern laboratory base for conducting classes with graduate students, allowing them to study the hardware and software of a smart city and the Internet of things. It is important that the project participants have formed an International hybrid learning space that allows for network remote access to educational resources, including to the laboratory base of universities, which made it possible not to interrupt the educational process due to the quarantine. The book describes the laboratory base for smart city technologies and distance learning technologies. We are confident that the results of the ERASMUS + project will be useful for both universities and business enterprises interested in training modern specialists in smart city technologies and the Internet of Things. This publication contains materials got from a joint European project under the ERASMUS + program: SMARTCITY: Innovative Approach Towards a Master Program on Smart City Technologies. The book describes both the general mechanisms for the development and implementation of educational Master's programs of double degrees between universities from Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and the European Union, as well as the features of the practical implementation of training specialists in Smart City and Internet of Things technologies.

The book is intended for the leaders of higher education institutions interested in the implementation of double degree programs, as well as for the teaching staff of higher schools, preparing graduates in the technologies of the Smart City and the Internet of Things, for students and postgraduates of the relevant areas.
